Jim Wendler’s 531 training method is one of the simplest and effective ways to build strength and new muscle. I’ve been using it for nearly two years and the results speak for themselves.

I’ve also written a fair bit on my experiences of training with 531. The highlights include:

  • What I learned in the first year of 5/3/1
  • What supplements to take during 5/3/1 training
  • How to use assistance movements intelligently and efficiently
  • Extras including ‘Boring but Big’ and the 100 Rep Challenge (both variations of Wendler’s 5/3/1)

Due to the popularity of these posts, I’m drawing them all together in once place. No more hunting or searching the site.

If you Want the Knowledge Go Buy The Book

I’m serious. This information doesn’t detract anything from Jim Wendler’s book. If you want the full programme plus Wendler’s motivation and wisdom, you’ll only get it by reading his writing.

Wendler has decades of experience of powerlifting, conditioning, nutrition and training for sports performance. His programme is so simple that it takes a lot of the guess work out of your training.

Once you’ve read it, come back and read my experiences. Here’s a list of all the 5/3/1 articles on this website:
