Hi, I’m Neil and this is my story of why I created this website:
One day I was on a search for content and advice for Dads like me – strong, healthy and committed to being the best they could be. But I came up short. Oh sure, Dad blogs are ten-a-penny. And some of them are good.
But I wanted more. I wanted to read about how to live my best life as a father. As a man. I knew for a fact that there are Dads out there who are working hard to rediscover their male energy and identity. And I was right.
The next four years were a whirlwind where this website went from ‘just another blog’ to one of the premier resources for Dads on the internet.
A Father’s Mission – A Manifesto for Strong Fatherhood
In 2017, I published my first book: A Father’s Mission. It was the culmination of years of writing, listening to my readers and my own research. It started as a ‘best of’ the blog and turned into a manifesto on how fathers need to be in our modern days.
As well as the hundreds of copies sold, I’ve given out over two hundred free copies to my most loyal supporters. This Dad Does has never been about the money. It’s been about something more, something bigger than just me and my ego. It’s been about you the reader and what we can learn from each other.
Reinvention and Renewal
But I didn’t want to be ‘that fatherhood guy’ for the rest of my life. And I have other passions and things to talk about it. Self provisioning (where you grow, forage or hunt for as much of your food as possible) is a big passion of mine and that’s what my next book will be about.
I’ve lived a great, adventurous and full live and I’m still in my 30’s. I’ve got stories to share – some in this blog and some in still in my head.
My challenge to you, reader, is to take the time to browse through what I’ve written in the pages of this blog. And if you’ve got stories to share, send me a message. It could even get published on these pages. In the meantime, there are over 200 articles on a whole range of subjects including:

Love this, Neil – so true that there is next to nothing out there for dads. Well, lots of people posting pictures of them with their kids, or the latest lego monster to be built, but where is the serious advice? Fatherhood Institute is great, have you checked them out?
