Yesterday was a big day for me. It was big because I typed the last few words of the first draft of my new book. But why have I written it, what’s it about and what’s it going to be called? All this will be revealed in the next few paragraphs.

You’ll probably noticed that I haven’t been posting much on the blog recently. And there’s a good reason for that. I’ve been focusing nearly 100% of my energies in finishing the draft of my upcoming book.

This technique of focusing on one task at a time comes straight out of the Gorilla Mindset playbook. And it works.

This book represents hours of work, from the first concept to the work that’s to come in putting on the finishing touches.

I started on the book back in September 2016 and although I’ve moved house and job in between, I’ve been able to put the work in consistently.

I’m now thrilled to be able to reveal the title of the book which is…

A Father’s Mission:

Strong Fatherhood in Our Modern Times

I’m sure you’re dying to know what A Father’s Mission will be about, but before I get to that, I’m going to start with why I’ve written it.

‘Live Your Life, Share Your Story’

Why write a book in the first place? Some people might do it for fame, recognition or cold, hard cash. I’ve got a different motivation.

I don’t need fame or fortune. Those things are fleeting and I have other interests that bring me a good income and have allowed me to invest in this site and A Father’s Mission. This will show in the final product.

My motivation is my desire to share my story so that we can help each other navigate the journey that is fatherhood together. Being a Dad is tough – don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

But that doesn’t mean it isn’t rewarding or ultimately fulfilling. What I want to know is this: are you taking all the opportunities to be the best Dad you can be? What’s missing that would complete the picture and steer you along your own father’s mission?

I started off writing a fitness blog for Dads. But this has quickly turned into something more. Something bigger, where we have a growing movement of Dads who want to be the best they can at life, love and raising their kids.

That’s a great thing to be part of and I’m honoured by every one of you who’s read anything I’ve written.

I’m not a parenting guru. I’m learning the same as you are. Later this year my wife will have our third child. It feels like being back at square one but I’m up for the challenge.

I won’t kid myself though. My opinions on fatherhood can be divisive or offensive to some. I know that there are whole swathes of fathers that are beyond help.

It’s sad that I won’t have the chance to reach them due to their own weak mindedness.

Knowing that many of you will read and identify with A Father’s Mission more than makes up for it.

A Father’s Mission and the Pillars of Strong Fatherhood

A Father’s Mission is divided into six sections or ‘pillars’. These pillars cover the six aspects which make for a successful mission as a father. Each pillar contains several chapters which cover the subject in more detail.

These are:

  • Pillar 1: A Father’s Mission
  • Pillar 2: Mental Strength and the Barriers to Success
  • Pillar 3: Spirituality and Self Control
  • Pillar 4: Wisdom and the Application of Knowledge
  • Pillar 5: The Power of the Outdoors
  • Pillar 6: Physical Health and Wellbeing

Some of these subjects you’ll recognise from my most read blog posts. Others are new subjects which are easier for me to explore in the freedom of a book.

Each pillar is a mixture of personal reflection and razor sharp application that will entertain and challenge you in equal measure.

Why I’m Giving My Book Away for Free

Imagine if I wrote this book and then charged you a massive sum to read it. That would be off putting. It also contradicts my desire to reach as many fathers as I can. Which is why I’ll be giving my subscribers a free copy weeks before anyone else has the chance to buy.

There are already over 150 men signed up and waiting. Are you one of them? If not, you can sign up here.
